Family Promise of Greater Lorain

Neighborhood Alliance is an affiliate partner of Family Promise National. We offer families in crisis professional case management, including prevention/diversion, shelter, and stabilization/housing.

Family Promise National Organization

Family Promise is the leading national organization addressing family homelessness and at-risk families due to its unique, community-based model of creating solutions using existing resources. Our holistic approach provides prevention services before a family reaches a crisis, shelter when they have lost their homes, and stabilization programs once they are back in secure housing.

Family Promise at Neighborhood Alliance

Neighborhood Alliance is proud to partner with Family Promise National to bring Family Promise services back to Lorain County.

When Family Promise of Lorain County closed in 2018, Neighborhood Alliance stepped in to continue providing shelter for families experiencing homelessness through the Ben and Jane Norton Center Homeless Shelter. Today, we are expanding that work through our official Family Promise affiliate partnership to provide additional services that strengthen housing stability for families in our community.

Family Promise of Greater Lorain offers supportive services designed to help families avoid homelessness, remain safely housed, and build long-term stability, including:

  • Shelter Diversion – Helping families identify safe alternatives to emergency shelter while working toward permanent housing solutions.
  • Homelessness Prevention – Providing assistance with urgent needs such as rent, utilities, or car repairs to help prevent families from losing their housing.
  • Housing Retention – Supporting families after they are housed by helping navigate challenges related to finances, housing stability, and daily life.

These services fill critical gaps in support for families in Lorain County and play an important role in preventing and reducing homelessness in our community.
