Mission

Helping communities grow stronger by meeting critical needs and empowering individuals and families.

Who We Are

Neighborhood Alliance has been compassionately caring for the community since 1927. We are helping our community grow stronger by caring for our clients’ most basic needs. We provide emergency shelter, homeless outreach, daily meal delivery, nutrition services including an emergency food pantry and socialization activities for seniors, childcare and child enrichment programs, and access to family support programs such as Help Me Grow for those in need. We are empowering the people of our community with the tools to create a better life for themselves. With our inspired mission of strengthening neighborhoods, we continue to expand programs and services to address the diverse and changing needs of families and individuals in Northeast Ohio.

Values and Beliefs

Human Dignity – All members of our community deserve to live their lives with dignity, to have their basic needs met, and to have opportunities to better their lives.

Transparency – We pursue our work through direct and honest communication with all of our stakeholders.

Collaboration – In an era where resources are scarce, the problems in our community will be most effectively addressed through deep and effective partnerships with other public, private, and nonprofit partners.

Program Quality – We are committed to providing high-quality programs for those we serve, and to ensuring that we have the highest quality staff to deliver our programs.

Measurement and Evaluation – We cannot provide quality programs without measuring and evaluating our impact, and we cannot be good stewards of the public and private support we receive without measuring our impact.

Fiscal Sustainability – In order to remain strong, we must ensure that we have the financial strength necessary to meet the community’s needs short- and long-term. Neighborhood Alliance will advance its mission over the next five years through achievement of the following goals, supported by targeted strategies and tactics.

OUR IMPACT

We are uniquely positioned to assist local residents when circumstances change and the reality of making some of life’s most difficult choices sets in.  By design, we deliver our signature services such as child enrichment, senior enrichment, family support, and shelter and emergency services within walking distance of those in greatest need. Ninety-seven percent of the population that we serve lives in poverty.

Whether it’s a hot home delivered meal or caregiver support groups for a senior citizen, an overnight stay in a safe shelter for a mother, father and their children, or assistance for a family struggling with the special needs of their developing child, Neighborhood Alliance touches the lives of thousands every year. At the foundation of our support network is our expertise with multicultural and multigenerational populations. Offering a collaborative approach to serving our community, we work in tandem with other like-mission organizations to deliver services whenever possible to ultimately enhance the lives of those who need it most.

Anti-Discrimination Policy

Neighborhood Alliance believes in and is committed to the principles and practices of diversity, equality and inclusion. With a 93-year commitment to Lorain County, Neighborhood Alliance has seen dynamic changes in the community and its cultures. In response, the agency continues to adapt its programs and services to better meet the needs of those we serve. Neighborhood Alliance stands committed to serve those in need and to foster an environment of sensitivity and awareness to inequality and injustices in society. Neighborhood Alliance is taking steps to review internal policies, make changes where warranted, and educate all team members.

We affirm that no person will be discriminated against because of race, sexual orientation, color, religion, gender, age, gender identity (including gender expression), disability or national origin in employment, board involvement or in any way be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of any program or activity of the agency.
