Hello!  My name is Kelly Burns and I am the Director and Supervisor for the Help Me Grow Home Visiting program at Neighborhood Alliance.  It is our program’s goal to provide compassionate support to families with young children in the community. Whether we are working with a new mom on what to expect with her newborn, developing a sleep routine, addressing self-care or connecting with additional resources, Home Visiting will adjust the time together to meet a family’s needs. My passion for supporting families with young children started in the beginning years of college. I attended classes at Cuyahoga Community College for my Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  While gaining knowledge of child development, I had the experience of interacting daily with families in my position as a lead teacher in child care. In 2006, after graduation, I shifted my focus to Social Work but kept children as my population of interest.  I started attending social work classes at Cleveland State University and found that this was truly my passion.

.  I interned at Lorain County Family and Children First Council and was connected with the Help Me Grow program.  After this opportunity to work directly with families in their homes, I knew what I wanted to do with my career.  I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Social Work in 2010 and began my employment with Neighborhood Alliance Help Me Grow less than a month later.  In 2011, I earned my Social Work License and continue to maintain it.

I started off my journey at Neighborhood Alliance with dual roles as a Home Visitor and Service Coordinator.  As the program evolved, I stayed with my role as a Home Visitor.  In 2017, I became Supervisor to the Home Visiting program and continue with that role today. For the past 11 years, I have maintained my Home Visitor and Supervisor credentials while gaining the Ohio Infant Mental Health Credential as well as the Six Sigma Green Belt certification. In January 2022, I started a new chapter and now have the role of the Director.  As my journey continues with Neighborhood Alliance my role as a Director will allow me to share the knowledge and experiences I have picked up along the way. With the support from a caring, professional team, I continue to experience growth and have the opportunity to reach for new goals all while helping our communities grow stronger.
